We had a super time at Flame Off this year, I took tuition from Caroline Weidman a very accomplished glass artist, we were making figures off mandrel – the work whilst demanding close attention to heat control and accuracy provided lovely results with ‘life and movement’ in the pieces — a very stimulating exercise in off mandrel glass control.

So looking forward to Spring and the warmer weather. We are planning our shows and events for the forthcoming year and are happy to let you all know that we will be going to Flame Off, in Uttoxeter on 1st and 2nd June where I will be a trader once again. I am also looking forward to helping on the torches, so if you or any of your friends are interested in seeing the very best of British and International lampworking – come along and join us – we always have a really great time.
I’ve also been accepted to be part of Worcestershire Open Studios again this year, taking place on August 25/26/27. My studio will be open to the public on each of those days from 10 – 5.30 and I will be demonstrating and encouraging willing participants to have a go themselves. Lots of lovely people came last year and I’m looking forward to seeing returning and new enthusiasts.
I’m looking into doing one or two other local shows throughout the year. Headless Cross Community Orchard hold two fairs in May and October which I hope to be part of and a local garden centre has recently started a season of craft fairs – I’ll keep you updated when I have decided on which ones I am going to be part of.
Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones – so come along to the studio for a chat (and possibly tea and biscuits, if I can charm my wife) …..
Following a successful Flame Off we are having a short break to rearrange the shop and label all the lovely new glass I bought from Tuffnels, after which a few days will be spent chilling together.
So we will be back soon and ready to go!
