Worcestershire Open Studios 2022

We are excited to let you know that we will be taking part in the 2022 Worcestershire Open Studios event. The format has changed this year and we are delighted to say that we will be able to welcome visitors on even more days.

The event is taking place from 20 – 29 August 2022 and our studio will be open on 20, 21, 27, 28, & 29 August 10 am until 5.00 and on 24 – 25 August 11 – 3.00. (We will not be open on Monday 22 or Tuesday 23 August).

This year both Lighthouse Glass and Fuchsia Cottage Crafts have taken the decision to be involved and we welcome the opportunity to showcase our work, give demonstrations, chat with our visitors and generally have a great time. We will be providing refreshments, including tea, coffee, soft drinks and of course cake, so why not make a date in your diary and come along and see us, you’ll be made most welcome and we’re sure that you will have a great time.

Why not follow the WOS website and see all the other artists that are involved this year – there are 108 artists over 91 venues, so there will be lots to see and do during the August event.

We had a super time at Flame Off this year, I took tuition from Caroline Weidman a very accomplished glass artist, we were making figures off mandrel –  the work whilst demanding close attention to heat control and accuracy provided lovely results with ‘life and movement’ in the pieces — a very stimulating exercise in off mandrel glass control.

So looking forward to Spring and the warmer weather.  We are planning our shows and events for the forthcoming year and are happy to let you all know that we will be going to Flame Off, in Uttoxeter on 1st and 2nd June where I will be a trader once again.  I am also looking forward to helping on the torches, so if you or any of your friends are interested in seeing the very best of British and International lampworking  – come along and join us – we always have a really great time.

I’ve also been accepted to be part of Worcestershire Open Studios again this year, taking place on August 25/26/27.  My studio will be open to the public on each of those days from 10 – 5.30 and I will be demonstrating and encouraging willing participants to have a go themselves.  Lots of lovely people came last year and I’m looking forward to seeing returning and new enthusiasts.

I’m looking into doing one or two other local shows throughout the year.  Headless Cross Community Orchard hold two fairs in May and October which I hope to be part of and a local garden centre has recently started a season of craft fairs – I’ll keep you updated when I have decided on which ones I am going to be part of.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones – so come along to the studio for a chat (and possibly tea and biscuits, if I can charm my wife) …..

Following a successful Flame Off we are having a short break to rearrange the shop and label all the lovely new glass I bought from Tuffnels, after which a few days will be spent chilling together.
So we will be back soon and ready to go!
P.S. The Kim Fields style birds look really good — pop in and see them.

Sorry we are closed for a few days, but I am very pleased to be attending Kim Fields class at Tuffnels and will post a picture or two of my efforts in due course.

We hope you can make it to Flame Off at Uttoxeter 2nd and 3rd of June as there is a full house of glass artists stalls, with international artists demonstrating their skills and torches for you to try yourselves under good safe guidance from experienced lampworkers.

Hi everyone we are closed for a few days from the 15th of March, we will reopen on Thursday 23rd — our online shop is open as normal but mailing out will take place after we reopen.

We are back from our training event, full of new ideas and challenges. We had a great time with Rashan O’Jones from the USA and our hosts Martin and Teresa from Tuffnell Glass. Met old friends and made some new ones. Now looking forward to torch time with my students and to producing new and exciting work. Why not call by and see me lamp working, I torch most days and am always willing to give impromptu demonstrations.

We are going away for a few days to a training event. The shop will be closed until Monday 10th October. When we return we will be displaying gifts, jewellery, and lampwork beads ready for Christmas. Why not pop in and see if there is something that takes your fancy. New beads are regularly on display, so there is always something interesting to see. Vic also does lampwork demonstrations several times a week, so call by and see him at work.
